Created specifically for swimmers who have completed their Active Start & FUNdamentals education and skills. This group is considered a Non Competitive group with an eye towards fitness as the focus. Competition is still an option as swimmers will be trained to the rules according to Competitive Swimming
Swimmers may choose to join in 1 - 2 workouts per week*.
*This group also allows for those swimmers involved with BCSSA to maintain their Summer Swimmer status with each practice being 1hr water time. BC Summer Swimming mandates any Winter Maintenance programs to be maximum 2hrs of instruction per week.
The Duncan Swim Team is excited to announce the Stingrays Masters program that is geared towards lifelong fitness for adults 18+. Swimmers must be able to swim a minimum of 500m (20lengths) unassisted - it need not be continuous but please note that this is not a Learn to Swim program. If this is beyond your ability, might we suggest our Private Sessions?
This is a departure from the long standing Cowichan Aquannis Master drop in program as we will be doing a monthly sign up. There are 2 x annual sign up fees:
$39 SwimBC registration
$20 DST registration --> you will receive a Stingrays latex cap and a pair of goggles (either Vorgee or TYR)
For further information, please contact the Stingrays Masters Lead Coach email@example.com
The Stingrays' are excited to partner with the Pacheedaht First Nation and offer a Learn to Swim program with the goal of qualifying for the North American Indigenous Games and / or earning their National Lifeguarding certification.
Swimmers will learn and refine the 4 Swimming strokes along with the corresponding stroke rules for competition:
Focus for this level is mastering the basics of floatation and body position. Propulsion with the legs ie "kick" is also a major component of this level of Swimming. The rules for each of the Strokes in the Sport of Swimming are reinforced and swimmers will work to expand their endurance.
Swimmers will also learn the basics of Competition and will be invited to attend the Stingrays' Orange & Black events (Dec 1, 2021 & Feb 2022). Upon completion of the 54 skills of the Stingrays' FUNdamentals program, swimmers will be invited to enter competition with racing against swimmers from other communities.
