Time Standards

Time Standards

Once swimmers have learned all four strokes and choose to participate in competitions, there are numerous Swim Meets of various skill levels available to compete in.

For entry level competitions, all swimmers are welcome to compete. There are no Time Standards needed for entrance. This is where our young ones 'get their feet wet' so to speak.

Once the swimmers get familiar with their times for specific events they can then start looking at the Provincial Time Standards which are broken up into Age Categories:

The first step into Time Standards are the single "A" Qualifying Times. Once swimmers have attained this QT, they can soon set their sights on to attaining a Provincial "AA" QT.

Swimmers whose times exceed the "AA" QT within their Age Category are then invited to higher level competitions (ie Vancouver Island Regional Championships, Regional Invitations, etc).

Once the swimmer achieves a Provincial "AAA" QT they will then be eligible to participate in the SwimBC Provincial Championships.

Following that, the swimmers can then look towards National Qualifying Time Standards:

The time standards above are normally updated yearly, but there have been no changes made from last year. Therefore, these time standards carry forward into the 2009 / 2010 season.
